AFCON Tragedy: 5 Nigerians Perish Watching Super Eagles

The highly anticipated match between the two nations took a somber turn as reports emerged of fatal incidents occurring during the game.
According to accounts, the fatalities transpired when South Africa was awarded a penalty kick against Nigeria towards the conclusion of the game. Additionally, another tragic incident occurred during the penalty shoot-outs, with no fewer than four Nigerians reportedly losing their lives.
Among the deceased are Samuel, a serving member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), who tragically collapsed and passed away at a viewing center in Adamawa. Furthermore, Dr. Cairo Ojougboh, a former member of the House of Representatives representing Ika federal constituency of Delta State, met his demise while engrossed in the game. Alhaji Ayuba Abdullahi, the deputy bursar of Kwara State University (KWASU), also succumbed to the tension-filled encounter.
In addition to these losses, Mikail Osundiji, a sales representative in Ogun State, was reported to have perished during the high-stakes match.
Moreover, unconfirmed reports suggest that Chief Osondu Nwoye, a billionaire from Anambra residing in Ivory Coast, purportedly passed away while watching Wednesday‘s AFCON semi-final clash between his home country and South Africa.
