A two-storey building under construction has collapsed on Craig Street in the Shomolu area of Lagos during the decking stage.

The affected structure is one of two ongoing construction projects at the site. As of press time, the specific cause of the collapse remains undetermined.

Eyewitnesses reported that parts of the building’s pillars fell onto a nearby church, causing partial structural damage. Fortunately, no injuries or fatalities were recorded, and all worshippers present at the time managed to escape safely.

Emergency response teams swiftly arrived at the scene, conducted a thorough search to ensure no one was trapped, and secured the area to prevent further risks.

Officials from the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) have since cordoned off the site and carried out public sensitisation campaigns to raise awareness about construction safety in the community.
