APC Chief Calls for United Opposition Front to Challenge Tinubu in 2027
Bold call to action, Salihu Lukman, the immediate past National Vice Chairman (North) of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has urged prominent political figures to unite ahead of the 2027 presidential election. Lukman, in a piece titled “EndBadGovernance Campaign: What Next?”, emphasized the need for a strong and cohesive political party that can effectively challenge President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s government.
Lukman pointed out that the current administration has left most registered political parties in a state of dormancy, making it crucial to bring together aggrieved political leaders across various parties. He believes that the rising discontent in the country presents an opportunity to form a political force capable of rescuing Nigeria and steering it back toward democratic development.
He suggested that the #EndBadGovernance campaign, which has gained significant traction nationwide, should be integrated into the foundation of any new political party that seeks to challenge the APC’s dominance. Without this integration, Lukman warned, any effort to defeat Tinubu in the upcoming election could be futile.
“This is the time for opposition leaders like Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso to take the lead in reforming our democracy and establishing a functional political party that can rescue Nigeria,” Lukman stated. He also called on other political figures within the APC, who have been sidelined, to join forces with the opposition. Notable names mentioned include Prof Yemi Osinbajo, Chief Rotimi Amaechi, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, Nasir El-Rufai, and Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola.
Lukman’s message is clear: only through unity and strategic organization can Nigeria’s opposition hope to bring about meaningful change and restore the country’s democratic values.
