Appeal Court Ruling: Support Groups Throws Weight Behind Moses Omo-Ikirodah For Etsako Federal Constituency
Following the appeal court judgement that favoured Dan Orbih’s legacy members of the PDP as the validly elected PDP candidates for the various electoral positions in Edo State, the contest for Etsako Federal constituency has taken a new twist.
With the favourable verdict, several support groups for the candidature of the frontline contestant for the Federal District, Moses Omo-Ikirodah, have restated their unequivocal support for the Mechanical Engineer in his choice to represent the good people of the constituency.
Today in Auchi, a group of Etsako youths united under the banner of the Etsako Grand Coalition for Good Governance (EGCGC) and led by Oshoike Momoh made a resounding declaration that the results of the upcoming elections would be based on competence and track record rather than arbitrary selection and sentimental bias.
According to the leader of the group, which is an amalgamation of over 12 groups spread across various communities such as Agbede, Agiere, Uzanu, Imiegba, Egori, Uzaruie, Awain, Auchi, Aviele, and others, it is no longer business as usual when it comes to selecting a representative to lead the people.
Following are some excerpts from the communiqué that was released after the meeting:
“Today is a historic day in the affairs of the people of Etsako Federal Constituency. We have carefully considered the recent appeal ruling that authenticated Moses Omo-Ikirdoah as the duly elected PDP house of representatives candidate for our constituency and we have painstakingly concluded that we must play a proactive role in ensuring only qualified and capable hands are elected to represent us. We are not politically affiliated with any party, we are only interested in the best interests of the people of Etsako Federal Constituency.
So we are determined to lead the struggle to a logical conclusion and leave no stone unturned in electing Moses Omo-Ikirdoah to represent us in Abuja, we are determined to spearhead this struggle regardless of the obstacles placed ahead of us, we are resolute and we believe that every household should now be a beneficiary of the dividends of our democracy, which can no longer be described as nascent.
We are firmly devoted and ready to mobilize all the youths who make up the clans in both Etsako West and Etsako East; we have the numbers to pick the winner, and we will use these numbers to our advantage because Etsako Federal Constituency Deserves Better.
Meanwhile, Auchi and its environs are taking on a new face, with Moses Omo-Ikirodah’s campaign banners and billboards visible in every nook and crevice of the constituency’s communities. The campaign is set to begin in earnest, and we will be providing up-to-date information on the electoral activities of the major parties in contention.
