The incident occurred following the abduction of 50 individuals from the bustling Madaka Market in Rafi Local Government Area. Among the victims, predominantly women, nine were ruthlessly killed while being transported to the nearby Allawa forest by the bandits.
Isah Bawale Madaka, the district head of Madaka, provided grim details of the attack, revealing that seven people were slain in Kukoki village during the initial stages of the abduction, with an additional two losing their lives en route to the forest.
Despite efforts to track the movements of the bandits and ensure the safety of the abducted individuals, the violence escalated, claiming more lives without any apparent demand for ransom from the perpetrators.
The situation has raised serious concerns about the motives behind the attacks, as over 30 bodies have already been laid to rest, leaving communities in shock and mourning.
In response to the tragedy, the Emir of Kalgara, Alhaji Ahmed Attahiru Gunna, along with Hon. Ismaila Modibbo, visited the injured victims to offer support and condolences, highlighting the urgent need for enhanced security measures to curb the escalating violence in the region.
The relentless attacks by bandits in Niger State underscore the pressing need for concerted efforts by security agencies and government authorities to tackle the root causes of insecurity and protect the lives and property of citizens.
