Borno NPC Refutes Insecurity Claims: Denies Exclusion Of Six LGAs From NDHS
The Director of the National Population Commission (NPC) in Borno State, Comrade Haruna Ibrahim, has refuted reports circulating in certain national dailies suggesting that the Commission excluded six local government areas (LGAs) from the ongoing National Demographic and Health Survey (NDHS) 2023–2024 due to security concerns…..CONTINUE READING
Contrary to media claims implying the potential exclusion of Guzamala, Mobbar, Abadam, Chibok, Marte, and Magumeri LGAs due to insecurity linked to terrorism, Comrade Ibrahim clarified the situation in a press statement.
The Borno State NPC Director explained that the exclusion of these LGAs was not security-related but rather a result of a random sampling process used to select participating LGAs and communities. Out of the 27 LGAs initially involved, 21 were chosen randomly.
Comrade Ibrahim emphasized that the random selection method was not unique to Borno State but applied to all 36 states of the Federation. The statement highlighted that areas like Baga, Damboa, and Kala-Balge had already been covered in the ongoing survey.
The NPC reiterated its commitment to conducting the survey in all selected LGAs and called for public support to ensure a smooth and successful exercise.
The National Demographic and Health Survey plays a crucial role in providing evidence-based policies, enhancing public health interventions, and contributing to the broader development agenda of Nigeria as a nation.
