Breaking News: Tinubu Teases Major Move In 2027 Presidential Race—Is He Eyeing The Throne Again

President Bola Tinubu has emphasized that his main priority is securing a brighter future for the next generation of Nigerians, rather than focusing on the upcoming 2027 elections. This declaration was made during the 2024 South-West Assembly of the All Progressives Congress (APC), held in Victoria Island, Lagos, and organized by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the party’s zonal coordinator.

The event drew several notable APC figures, including former national chairman Chief Bisi Akande and former Ogun State Governor Aremo Olusegun Osoba, along with current governors Dapo Abiodun (Ogun), Lucky Aiyedatiwa (Ondo), and Biodun Oyebanji (Ekiti), who all expressed their support for Tinubu and the party’s aspirations for the 2027 elections.

During the assembly, former Ekiti State Governor Kayode Fayemi lauded Tinubu as a “listening leader” devoted to the nation’s progress. Represented by his Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, Tinubu urged Nigerians to practice patience, reaffirming his administration’s dedication to national development.

Gbajabiamila reiterated the President’s determination to make challenging decisions that would ultimately benefit the country, emphasizing a focus on long-term objectives over immediate electoral considerations. As the political landscape shifts, Tinubu’s commitment to future generations may alter the discourse surrounding governance and development in Nigeria, highlighting a vision that extends beyond the current electoral cycle.

In his message, Gbajabiamila stated, “Mr. President has asked me to convey that he is not focused on the next election, but on the next generation. He understands the difficult choices he has made and sees a light at the end of the tunnel. In time, we will all appreciate these decisions.”

He further emphasized that Tinubu is dedicated to the welfare of all Nigerians, particularly the underprivileged, and that his resolve to navigate through this transformative period is driven by a deep conviction to lead the country despite the challenges of tough reforms.

Gbajabiamila acknowledged that while Tinubu is the President, his political roots are firmly planted in the Southwest, making the assembly’s discussions particularly significant. “The challenges facing our nation are vast and complex. However, those familiar with him know Tinubu possesses a profound love for the people. He feels their struggles deeply but remains committed to advancing his vision for Nigeria’s future,” he said.

Governor Sanwo-Olu underscored the importance of unity and collaboration within the Southwest, asserting that the region’s collective efforts would be crucial in harnessing its resources and advancing the country. He emphasized that the gathering aimed to rekindle hope and uphold the principles of “omoluabi” for both regional and national progress, calling on all leaders and members to continue their support for Tinubu beyond the 2027 election.

Senate Majority Leader Bamidele Opeyemi highlighted the strategic significance of the South-West APC Caucus within the 10th Assembly, noting that 15 out of 18 Senators from the region belong to the APC, providing substantial influence in national legislative affairs. He praised the Caucus for successfully securing key leadership positions in the Senate and House of Representatives, allowing them to effectively advocate for the region’s interests.

In his keynote address, Fayemi encouraged the replication of the South-West Caucus model at state and local levels, advocating for unity within the APC to achieve Tinubu’s “renewed hope agenda.” He expressed confidence that the party would remain robust and focused on fulfilling its promises under Tinubu’s leadership. “We cannot continue to rest on our laurels as a party. I am convinced that the APC will remain strong to tackle the unfinished business of Mr. President’s renewed hope agenda,” he stated.
