Breaking: President Tinubu Assures Full Support For Oyo State’s Agricultural-Transformation

President Bola Tinubu has assured Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde of the Federal Government’s support in driving the state’s agricultural transformation. The president commended Makinde for his efforts to enhance development in the state, particularly through investments in critical capital projects.

Tinubu’s message was delivered by Vice President Kashim Shettima in Ogbomoso during the inauguration of the 76.67 km Iseyin-Fapote-Ogbomosho road, named after former governor Adebayo Alao-Akala. Shettima emphasized the importance of road networks, stating that the country’s prosperity depends on each state’s active role in building essential infrastructure.

He noted that the Tinubu administration is committed to supporting states in achieving their goals and fulfilling promises to the nation. Oyo State, he said, holds a significant place in the country’s economy and will continue to be a priority in the President’s efforts to foster unity and peace across Nigeria.

Shettima remarked, “Today we gather to reflect on the journey of progress. Our Federation can only thrive when each state actively participates in building essential infrastructure to facilitate our daily lives. We thank Governor Seyi Makinde for being a collaborative partner and investing in such a critical capital project. Oyo State is not only a land of hospitality but also a pacesetter for the entire country.”

He added, “Governor Makinde has shown that a well-constructed network of roads is crucial to the economy. The 76.67 km Alao Akala Memorial Highway connects communities within the state and serves as a vital link to other geo-political zones. Such roads open new areas of economic activities, increase agricultural production, and accelerate urbanization.”

Governor Makinde reiterated his commitment to infrastructure development, emphasizing his belief that “where roads go, development follows.” He outlined plans to build more road infrastructure to interconnect all zones in the state, including the Iddo-Eruwa axis to Ibadan.

“We are working on the 48 km Ido-Eruwa road, which will be delivered within the next seven to eight months. Our focus is to ensure that we spread development throughout the state. Gone are the days when our Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) came from only one zone,” Makinde said.

He highlighted ongoing developments at the Fashola Agribusiness Industrial Hub and plans for similar projects in Eruwa and Ijaye this year. Makinde concluded, “We will continue to reduce our infrastructural deficit and move more of our people from poverty to prosperity. As we celebrate five years of Omituntun in Oyo State, our pledge is to bring development to our people.”
