BREAKING: Public Complaints And Anti-Corruption Commission Boss Sacked (DETAILS)

Abdullahi Ganduje, the governor of Kano State, has finally fired Muhuyi Rimingado, the suspended chairman of the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission.

The state government suspended Mr Rimingado in July 2021, shortly after opening an investigation into contracts allegedly awarded to companies linked to the governor’s family.

According to a letter sent to Mr Rimingado by the secretary to the state government, Usman Alhaji, the state governor relied on the State House of Assembly’s July 2021 resolution to remove him from office.

“Following the resolution adopted by Kano State House of Assembly at its sitting held on Monday 26th July, 2021 (16, Zhul-Hijja, 1442AH) calling on the State Government to, with immediate effect remove you as the Executive Chairman, Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission on account of some alleged offences, I wish to convey the approval of His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Kano State, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje OFR of your dismissal from your position of the Executive Chairman, Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission with immediate effect.

“The dismissal is in accordance with the provisions of Section 6 of Public Complaints and Anti- Corruption Commission Law 2008 as amended.

“Accordingly, you are hereby formally issued with the dismissal letter. Please accept my best wishes and esteemed regards,” the letter read.

When contacted for comment, Mr Rimingado criticized the governor’s decision, claiming that the government had failed to follow the National Industrial Court’s ruling.

“This goes to show how insensitive, reckless and lawless the Ganduje’s-led administration is, especially as regards to issues bordering on anti-corruption effort in the state”

“This issue has been tried and judgement pass in my favor by the National industrial Court Abuja, and instead of them to comply with or appeal the judgement, they now think they can cheaply resort to self help after suffering defeat in the legal battle.

“This is an afterthought. Everything contained in the said judgement. I am therefore in contact with my team. We’ll take legal measures to remind them that rule of law prevails over and about impunity,” Mr Rimingado added.
