According to Ireporter Online, the United States Embassy in Nigeria has cancelled all visa appointments scheduled for Wednesday, March 4, 2026, in Abuja due to security concerns arising from potential protests in the Federal Capital Territory.

The embassy, in a statement issued on Wednesday, explained that the precautionary measure was taken to ensure the safety of both applicants and staff. “Due to the potential for protests in Abuja, the U.S. Embassy in Abuja has cancelled all visa appointments on Wednesday, March 4, 2026,” the statement read.

While details of the planned demonstrations were not disclosed, the embassy emphasised that the step was necessary given the evolving situation in the city. Affected applicants will be contacted directly with instructions on how to reschedule their appointments.

Officials urged the public to follow updates on the embassy’s official website and social media channels. A dedicated line has also been provided for urgent assistance, with visa applicants and U.S. citizens in Nigeria advised to call +234 209 461 4328 or visit the official website for support.
