Governor Ahmed Aliyu of Sokoto State disclosed that upon assuming office, he was confronted with an empty treasury, and not a single fund was handed over to him by his predecessor, former Governor Aminu Tambuwal.

This revelation came as a response to the inquiry posed by the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kanu, who sought to understand how the Governor managed to initiate and complete 100 projects within his first 100 days in office.

“We inherited an empty Treasury and nothing to show, not a single paper was handed over to us.

“We made sacrifice to change the narrative of the state and we have succeeded in changing it within the last 100 days,” he said.

He characterized the relationship between the state government and the legislature as harmonious, emphasizing that their camaraderie was fostered under the guidance of the current leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko.

Aliyu extended gratitude to the leadership of the House of Representatives for dispatching a robust delegation to offer condolences to the government and citizens of the state following the passing of their colleague, Jelani Danbuga, who represented Isa-Sabon Birni Federal Constituency. He lauded the late lawmaker as a patriotic and exemplary gentleman.

In his remarks, Kanu expressed admiration for the considerable number of projects undertaken by the state government, highlighting it as a source of joy to witness impactful leadership at the state level, positively influencing the lives of the populace.

He emphasized that their presence in Sokoto was to share in the grief of the state’s people over the loss of their colleague, who was a staunch advocate for the unity and progress of the nation.
