Breaking: Yahaya Demands Immediate-Release Of Abducted-Journalists And Their Families (View-Details)
Nigerians expressed outrage on Sunday, July 7, over the abduction of journalists in Kaduna by unidentified bandits.
Among those calling for their release is Comrade Alhassan Yahaya.
The Nation Newspaper correspondent, AbdulGafar Alabelewe, who serves as the chairman of the correspondents chapel in Kaduna, was kidnapped along with three of his family members last night at Danhono 2, Millennium City, Kaduna.
Similarly, the Blueprint Newspaper correspondent, Abdulraheem Aodo, and his wife were also abducted at the same location.
In related news, Yahaya has been actively addressing various issues, including tackling food shortages with improved security in Gombe, suspending the MD of a state-owned microfinance bank, and ordering the prosecution of six suspects involved in the harassment of lawmakers.
“We are deeply saddened and shocked by the news of the kidnapping of our members and their families in Kaduna State,” Comrade Yahaya said.
A statement from Yahaya’s consultative team urged security agencies to work tirelessly and expedite efforts to ensure the safe release of the kidnapped journalists and their families.
Expressing profound shock, Comrade Alhassan Yahaya, a Presidential Aspirant of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), condemned the attack, stating it is unacceptable to target and kidnap practicing journalists performing their legitimate duties. He vowed, “We will not relent in our efforts until we get them freed and reunited with their families.”
