Despite the warm reception accorded to Harry and Meghan during their visit, including engagements with military officials and government representatives, the British High Commission’s social media channels remained notably silent on their activities.

Richard Montgomery, the British High Commissioner to Nigeria, explained that the couple visited Nigeria in a private capacity, not an official one, hence the commission’s decision not to publicly acknowledge their presence.

Montgomery emphasized that since the visit was not arranged or facilitated by the commission and the couple were not representing the UK government, there was no obligation for the commission to engage in public acknowledgment.
