Brutal Murder Investigation Launched: Couple Found Beheaded In Abia!

The Abia State Police Command has confirmed the horrifying beheading of an elderly couple, Mr. Jacob Udo and Mrs. Comfort Udo, in the Bende Local Government Area.

Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Maureen Chinaka, issued a statement on Thursday titled “Re: The Alleged Murder of a Couple in Bende,” affirming the tragic incident.

She stated, “Yes, we received the report yesterday at Bende Divisional Headquarters. The crime scene has been examined, evidence collected, and the bodies have been taken to the mortuary. An investigation is currently underway.”

Reports indicate that the couple, who were both traders, were allegedly murdered in their home in Etiti Ulo, Bende, by unidentified assailants on Tuesday night.

In response to this brutal act, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, who represents the Bende Federal Constituency, vehemently condemned the incident.

Through his Chief Press Secretary, Levinus Nwabughiogu, Kalu described the killings as “horrific and senseless.” He extended his condolences to the victims’ family and called for an urgent and thorough investigation to apprehend those responsible.

“The brutal murder of Mr. Jacob Udo and his wife is an affront to humanity. No grievance or dispute can justify such violence,” Kalu asserted. “I urge the authorities to ensure that the perpetrators are brought to justice. We must all unite against acts of violence and extremism while fostering tolerance and peaceful conflict resolution.”

The lawmaker also called for calm within the community, advising against any retaliatory actions. “While we recognize the pain and emotions surrounding this tragedy, we must avoid actions that will escalate tensions. Violence will only lead to further division and suffering,” he cautioned, urging for peace and tolerance in resolving conflicts.
