Reports indicate that the vessel capsized shortly after the video was recorded.

The wooden boat, designed to hold 100 passengers, was carrying approximately 300 individuals when it overturned in the rural Mokwa district, according to an emergency official on Wednesday, October 2.

As of last night, a collaborative effort by the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), the Niger State National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), and local divers has led to the recovery of 70 bodies, with 150 passengers rescued.

Search operations for the remaining missing individuals are still in progress.
