Buhari’s Burial: Gov Radda Announces Full Schedule For Final Rites In Daura
Governor Dikko Umaru Radda of Katsina State has officially confirmed the burial arrangements for former President Muhammadu Buhari, who died on Sunday in a London hospital after a prolonged illness.
Speaking during a press briefing in Katsina, Governor Radda revealed that, according to iReporter Online, the decision on the funeral timeline followed consultations with the late president’s family and close associates in the United Kingdom.
He stated that Buhari’s remains are expected to arrive in Katsina by 12:00 noon on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, and will be buried later that day in Daura, his hometown, at 2:00 p.m., in accordance with Islamic rites.
Governor Radda, speaking on behalf of the state government and the people of Katsina, expressed heartfelt condolences to Buhari’s family, the entire nation, and to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu over the passing of a leader he described as a national icon and elder statesman.
“We pray Almighty Allah to grant his soul eternal rest and reward him with Aljannatul Firdaus,” Radda stated solemnly. “We also condole with His Excellency, President Tinubu. May Allah give us all the strength to bear this monumental loss.”
The Governor emphasized that the Katsina State Government, in collaboration with federal authorities and the deceased’s family, is working to ensure a befitting and dignified farewell.
The funeral is expected to draw dignitaries from across Nigeria and beyond, as preparations intensify for the final rites. According to iReporter Online, national security agencies and protocol teams have already begun arriving in Katsina and Daura to ensure a smooth and solemn ceremony.
