Assuring Nigerians of the CBN’s proactive stance, Governor Yemi Cardoso outlined the measures during a sectoral debate organized by the House of Representatives on Tuesday.

Despite acknowledging the nation’s high cost of living, Cardoso expressed optimism, asserting that Nigeria’s economy has seen improvement since President Bola Tinubu assumed office in May 2023.

“To address exchange rate volatility, a comprehensive strategy has been initiated to enhance liquidity in the foreign exchange markets. These include unifying foreign exchange market segments, clearing outstanding FX obligations, introducing new operational mechanisms for BDCs, enforcing the Net Open Position limit, and adjusting the remunerable Standing Deposit Facility cap,” Cardoso stated.

Highlighting the transformative reforms underway, Cardoso emphasized that the nation is at a turning point, with positive outcomes already emerging and poised to further manifest in the near future.

Echoing Cardoso’s sentiments, Finance Minister Wale Edun reassured Nigerians that with crude oil production hitting 1.65mbd and the government’s rollout of palliatives, normalcy is on the horizon.

As the debate unfolded, Minister of Budget and National Planning Atiku Bagudu and Federal Inland Revenue Service Chairman Zacch Adedeji also made presentations, underscoring the government’s commitment to steering the nation toward sustainable growth and development.
