Champions League Final: UEFA Names Daniel Siebert As Referee For PSG Vs Arsenal Showdown
According to Ireporter Online, UEFA has officially appointed German referee Daniel Siebert to oversee the 2026 UEFA Champions League final between Paris Saint-Germain and Arsenal, scheduled for May 30 at the Puskás Aréna in Budapest, Hungary.
The high-profile appointment marks the first UEFA club competition final assignment for the 42-year-old official, who has been active on the international refereeing stage for over a decade. Siebert has been a regular presence in this season’s Champions League, taking charge of nine matches, including Arsenal’s quarter-final encounter with Sporting CP and their semi-final tie against Atlético Madrid, as well as PSG’s quarter-final clash with Liverpool.
His selection is seen as a reflection of his consistent performances and steady rise within UEFA’s refereeing hierarchy since being listed as a FIFA referee in 2015. Siebert also brings major tournament experience, having officiated at UEFA Euro 2020 and UEFA Euro 2024.
He will be assisted by fellow German officials Jan Seidel and Rafael Foltyn, while the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) duties will be handled by Bastian Dankert, forming an all-German officiating team for the final.
UEFA’s decision underscores the importance of experience and composure in managing a fixture expected to be highly competitive, as both PSG and Arsenal battle for European supremacy. The governing body continues its practice of assigning referees who have demonstrated strong control in multiple high-stakes matches throughout the tournament.
