Chidi Mokeme Blasts Government On 64th Independence: ‘Nigerians Are Their Own Government

In his heartfelt post, Chidi Mokeme congratulated Nigerians who, despite the government’s perceived shortcomings, manage to independently provide their own security, healthcare, electricity, education, and welfare. He highlighted the numerous basic amenities that citizens are forced to provide for themselves, which should typically be the government’s responsibility.

Mokeme elaborated on various areas where Nigerians have become self-reliant:

Electricity: He shared that many citizens install their own transformers, electric poles, cables, and meters, even though these items technically belong to the government. In addition, they bear the costs of maintenance and are compelled to buy generators and fuel at high prices to ensure a steady power supply.

Water Supply: Mokeme pointed out that most Nigerians dig their own boreholes, install water pipes, storage tanks, and pumping machines, and are still forced to buy expensive diesel to keep their water flowing.

Security: He described how Nigerians are their own protectors, erecting house gates, street gates, estate gates, and even hiring guards to secure these gates. Despite these efforts, they still rely on divine protection against unforeseen dangers.

Healthcare: Mokeme lamented the prevalence of fake doctors, nurses, and medicines, yet citizens continue to pay for services while praying for their health.

He also questioned the state of education, infrastructure, development, and governance, highlighting the struggles faced by everyday Nigerians. In conclusion, Chidi Mokeme declared, “Whether they like it or not, I am my own government. I AM INDEPENDENT.”
