Speaking at the opening of the North West Zonal Attorney General’s Anti-Corruption Forum (AGAF), organized by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) with support from RoLAC and the EU, Justice Shuaibu stressed the need to tackle systemic corruption for societal stability.

“At the NJI, I previously critiqued the EFCC Chairman, and since 2007, I’ve seen little progress in major corruption cases. The current focus on yahoo boys misses the bigger picture. We need to go after the bigger fish to create a stable society,” he said.

He expressed frustration at how individuals with histories of corruption continue to hold powerful positions, citing a serving governor who had been previously convicted. He also criticized the misuse of ex parte court orders shielding individuals with immunity, urging better cooperation between federal and state agencies to address corruption at all levels.
