The news of Keith’s passing was confirmed through a statement shared on his website and social media accounts. The statement expressed gratitude for Keith’s courage and asked for privacy for the grieving family during this difficult time.

“Toby Keith passed peacefully last night on February 5th, surrounded by his family. He fought his fight with grace and courage. Please respect the privacy of his family at this time,” the statement read.

Keith had publicly disclosed his battle with cancer in June 2022, and in the months leading up to his passing, he bravely navigated the challenges of treatment. Despite his health struggles, Keith remained resilient and continued to share his passion for music with his fans.

A country music legend, Keith rose to fame with hits like “Should’ve Been a Cowboy,” “Red Solo Cup,” and “I Wanna Talk About Me.” However, it was his poignant anthem “Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue (The Angry American)” released in 2002, in response to the 9/11 attacks, that solidified his status as a household name.
