Court Sets ₦5 Million For Journalist Facing Secret Document Scandal

A Federal High Court in Abuja has granted bail to journalist and whistleblower, Isaac Bristol, identified by the Nigerian police as the individual behind the PIDOMNigeria account on X (formerly Twitter).

According to Naija News, Bristol faces charges of money laundering, illegally obtaining and sharing classified official documents, and cybercrime.

His arrest and arraignment by the Nigerian police have sparked widespread reactions online, with many netizens calling for his immediate release.

On Friday, Justice Emeka Nwite granted Bristol bail in the sum of ₦5 million, along with one surety of equal value. The ruling followed a motion on notice filed by Bristol’s legal team, led by Deji Adeyanju, requesting the court to take specific action in the case.
