Yahaya Bello In Trouble? Court Summons Ex-Governor Over Fresh 16-Count Charges!

A High Court in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Maitama, has issued a public summons for former Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, to appear in court over a new 16-count charge filed against him.

Naija News reports that Bello is required to attend the court on October 24 for his arraignment alongside two other defendants.

Justice Maryanne Anenih, in her ruling on Thursday, granted an application from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) requesting the public summons. She ordered that the summons be published in a widely-read newspaper and posted at Bello’s last known address and in noticeable areas around the court premises.

The EFCC revealed it had been unable to personally serve the former governor with the charges, which involve allegations of criminal breach of trust amounting to ₦110.4 billion. Bello’s absence delayed the arraignment, initially scheduled for Thursday. The other defendants in the case are Umar Oricha and Abdulsalami Hudu.
