Operatives of the Seme Area Command of Customs conducted a raid, resulting in the seizure of the bags of beans along with other contraband and illicit items, collectively valued at over N365 million.

In a statement released via its official channels, the NCS revealed that the operations took place between January and February 2024, with a total of 168 interventions leading to significant seizures.

The Seme Border Customs Area Controller, Comptroller Timi Bomodi, disclosed that among the seized items were foreign parboiled rice, Petrol Motor Spirit, vehicles, general merchandise, parcels of cannabis sativa, narcotics, codeine, and locally manufactured guns.

Highlighting a recent interception, the Customs Service emphasized the importance of preventing illegal grain exports, especially in light of the nation’s economic challenges and reported food shortages.
