In an official statement, Dana Air’s Head of Corporate Communications, Kingsley Ezenwa, confirmed the staff layoffs, clarifying that they are temporary until the completion of the audit.

The airline expressed gratitude to its employees for their dedication and resilience during this uncertain period and assured them of efforts to resolve the situation promptly.

Dana Air emphasized its commitment to cooperating with regulatory bodies to ensure a smooth and timely conclusion of the audit process. The airline also pledged to keep its employees informed and supported throughout the procedure.

Furthermore, Dana Air disclosed that it has commenced discussions with lessors and is engaging stakeholders to address the ongoing developments.

Amid these challenges, Dana Air appealed for patience and cooperation from its employees and stakeholders.

The recent operational setback occurred in April when one of Dana Air’s planes veered off the runway at Lagos airport. Following the incident, the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority suspended Dana Air’s Air Operators Certificate, prompting an immediate investigation to determine the root cause.

As investigations continue, the NCAA emphasized the importance of conducting a comprehensive audit of the airline’s operations to ensure safety and compliance with regulations.
