Joshua Ukandu, the spokesperson for the State Police Command, confirmed the unsettling event in a statement on Friday, revealing that armed hoodlums attacked the patrol team using an Ash-colored Toyota Sienna with an unknown registration number.

“In the ensuing gun battle, one of the operatives was fatally wounded,” Ukandu disclosed, highlighting the gravity of the confrontation. He further informed that the injured policeman was promptly transported to the hospital for medical attention.

The Commissioner of Police for Ebonyi State, CP Augustina Ogbodo, swiftly deployed tactical teams to the scene to address the situation and pursue the assailants. The police force is currently on the trail of the fleeing hoodlums.
