‘Deadly Attack In Edo’ Gunmen Claim Life Of Police Inspector, Injure Expatriate Amid Quarry Assault

Gunmen have shot and killed a police inspector and injured an expatriate during an assault on quarry workers in Ihivbe-Ogben, located in the Owan East Local Government Area of Edo State.….CONTINUE READING 

According to sources who spoke to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the attackers ambushed the quarry workers on Thursday, October 17, as they were returning to their base camp in the evening.

Another police officer assigned to protect the expatriate was also injured in the attack.

“The injured expatriate and the police officer are currently receiving treatment in an undisclosed hospital,” a source reported.

The spokesperson for the State Police Command, SP Moses Yamu, confirmed the inspector’s death to reporters on Sunday, October 20, 2024, in Benin City.

Yamu stated that the police are actively investigating the incident, adding, “The police, in collaboration with the military, are pursuing the suspects.”
