He noted that such price hikes make it increasingly difficult for him and many Nigerians to afford basic food items like eggs at home.

Suswam also called on President Bola Tinubu to reassess his economic team and convene an urgent meeting, emphasizing that transportation costs are a significant burden for many Nigerians trying to commute to work. He stated, “A crate of eggs that was less than N1,000 is now N10,000. This means that many families, including mine, can’t afford to buy eggs. I left government almost 10 years ago, and things have only gotten worse.”

In other news, Suswam confirmed that he is still in the race for the national chairmanship of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). He made this announcement during an emergency stakeholders meeting in Makurdi, the capital of Benue State, where he asserted that it is the North Central’s turn to replace former national chairman Iyochia Ayu, in accordance with the party’s constitution.

He claimed to have the support of the state party members, arguing that the selection of the new national chairman would be made by the party’s national leaders rather than through an election. Suswam dismissed reports of a crisis within the party, stating that some individuals were attempting to manipulate and seize control of the party in the state. He added that the PDP would have won the 2023 governorship election if not for the actions of these mischief-makers.
