During a press briefing on Friday, Major General Edward Buba, the Director of Defence Media Operations, played down the threat posed by these drones, highlighting that they are not military-grade equipment and are more akin to “toys” than effective weapons.

He also reassured the public of the military’s readiness to counter such tactics and urged against unnecessary alarm.

“We are engaged in a war against terrorists and insurgents, similar to conflicts seen in regions like Ukraine and Israel. The use of drones is a recognized strategy in modern warfare.

“Now that we understand their methods, we are implementing measures to counter these assaults. However, I wouldn’t classify them as real attacks; they are more accurately described as harassment. Rest assured, we are prepared and have strategies in place to tackle these challenges,” Buba added.
