The exchange rate between the United States dollar and the Nigerian naira at the parallel market, commonly referred to as the black market, recorded notable activity on April 9, 2026. According to market sources cited by Ireporter Online, Bureau De Change operators in Lagos traded the dollar at a selling rate of ₦1410 and a buying rate of ₦1390.

Reports indicate that the parallel market, often called the Aboki FX market, continues to serve as an alternative for foreign exchange transactions despite regulatory concerns. The Central Bank of Nigeria has consistently maintained that it does not recognise the black market and has advised individuals seeking foreign exchange to conduct transactions through official banking channels.

Further data obtained by Ireporter Online shows that within the official window, the Central Bank of Nigeria recorded the dollar trading between a high of ₦1365 and a low of ₦1351. However, market observers note that actual rates may vary depending on location, demand, and volume of transactions, as prices are not fixed across all dealers.
