According to reports monitored by Ireporter Online, the Super Eagles of Nigeria will lock horns with Tunisia tonight in a crucial Group C encounter at the ongoing 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, as both teams battle for supremacy after opening their campaigns with convincing victories.

Nigeria head into the fixture buoyed by a 2-1 triumph over Tanzania earlier in the week. Semi Ajayi opened the scoring with a powerful first-half header before Ademola Lookman doubled the advantage after the restart. Despite securing all three points, the Super Eagles were left to rue missed opportunities, as the margin of victory did not fully reflect their dominance throughout the match.

Tunisia, on their part, announced their intentions with an emphatic 3-1 win over Uganda in Rabat. Ellyes Skhiri got the North Africans off to a flying start with an early goal, while winger Elias Achouri netted twice to seal an impressive performance. The result marked a significant improvement from their last AFCON outing, where they failed to progress beyond the group stage.

After the opening round of fixtures, Tunisia sit atop Group C on goal difference with three points, level with Nigeria. Tanzania occupy third place, while Uganda remain rooted at the bottom, both yet to register a point. With only the top two teams in each group and the four best third-placed sides guaranteed passage to the round of 16, tonight’s clash is widely viewed as pivotal to determining the group’s eventual outcome.

Nigeria are set to line up in a 4-1-2-1-2 formation, with Stanley Nwabali in goal; Bright Osayi-Samuel, Semi Ajayi, Calvin Bassey and Bruno Onyemaechi in defence; Wilfred Ndidi anchoring midfield alongside Frank Onyeka and Alex Iwobi; Ademola Lookman operating behind a strike partnership of Victor Osimhen and Akor Adams. The Super Eagles bench includes Francis Uzoho, Zaidu Sanusi, Samuel Chukwueze, Moses Simon, Cyriel Dessers and Paul Onuachu among others.

Tunisia will deploy a 4-3-3 system featuring Aymen Dahmen in goal; Dylan Bronn, Youssef Valery, Montassar Talbi and Ali Abdi at the back; a midfield trio of Ellyes Skhiri, Ferjani Sassi and Mohamed Ali Ben Romdhane; with Elias Achouri, Hannibal Mejbri and Hamza Mastouri leading the attack. Their substitutes include Ali Maâloul, Yassine Meriah, Naim Sliti and Seifeddine Jaziri.

Kick-off is scheduled for 9:00 pm, with both sides fully aware that another victory would place them firmly on course for a spot in the knockout stages of the tournament.
