Edo 2024: Gen Cecil  Features Prominently As Esan Agenda Continues To Dominate Political Discussions

“Nobody” was sung by M.I Abaga, who asserts that if nobody talks about you, you’re a nobody… Weda na true dem talk oh or na lie o, but if you are not the subject of discussions then you are nobody.

Now, the Esan Agenda is on the lips of every citizen in Edo State, with many advocating for power rotation to Esanland, which has been neglected for far too long; they argue that it is simply an issue of equality, fairness, and justice.

You will be forced to shout Esanland if they mention the power rotation comparison from 1991. From 1991 to the present, a period of 32 years, Edo South has benefited from 17 years of power, Edo North from 8 years, and Edo Central from one year.

So you can see where they’re coming from; they’re upset because Esanland is surrounded by so many qualified and bright hands who can direct the state’s leadership to greater heights.

With the loud screams of power rotation to Esanland, one name continues to reverberate that has captivated our interest, Ceci Esekhaigbe.

Major General Cecil Osolease Esekhaigbe (Rtd. ), PhD, was born in Irrua, Edo State, on February 9, 1959, and is a native of Esan Central LGA.

A brief scan of his political background reveals that he served as the Director General of the APC’s 2020 gubernatorial campaign, giving him an automatic lead in the contest for the party’s governorship ticket ahead of the 2024 party primary.

Politically, when the director general of a campaign such as the governorship joins a governorship race, it says a lot. As DG, he was everywhere with the likes of Adams Oshiomhole and Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu rallying support for the party across the State’s 18 local government areas.

It’s a crazy political experience because it enhances one’s network and grassroots mobilisation skills.

Being a first-rate ex-military officer, Cecil is regarded as a fine and flawless gentleman with impeccable discipline. They believe he has paid his dues in the party and has held key roles at the national and local levels of the APC.

What do you think about Gen. Cecil’s rising profile as we inch towards Edo 2024, given that bookmakers give him a huge advantage as a credible and reliable candidate for the APC?
