Edo Police Launch Manhunt After Kidnapping Of Revered Priest ‘Community In Fear’

The Edo State Police Command has apprehended two suspects linked to the abduction of a Catholic priest, Rev. Fr. Thomas Ayode. Ozigi stated, “In response to the unfortunate kidnapping of Rev. Fr. Thomas Ayode, we have restructured the security measures in the area in collaboration with the community by deploying a unit of the Police Mobile Force.” He confirmed the arrest of two individuals connected to the priest’s kidnapping and assured that efforts are underway to secure his release and capture additional suspects. The police intend to file charges against all apprehended individuals once the investigation concludes.

It is noteworthy that Rev. Fr. Ayode, who also serves as the Rector of the Immaculate Conception Minor Seminary School in Agenegbode, was taken hostage last Sunday by armed assailants. The kidnappers have reportedly contacted the Diocese of Auchi, demanding a ransom of N200 million.
