Edo Road Horror: 12 Lives Lost As Bus Catches Fire After Fatal Crash

At least 12 people were tragically burned to death in a road accident that occurred on Saturday in Edo State.

The incident took place around 5 am in Igueoviobo community, near an Army checkpoint along the Benin-Auchi Road.

Mathew reported that all the occupants of the bus perished in the fire, while the driver and conductor of the truck emerged unscathed.

“The bus was traveling from Zuba, in the Federal Capital Territory, to Benin when it collided with a truck heading towards Auchi. All the passengers in the bus were killed,” Mathew explained.

He speculated that the bus driver may have fallen asleep due to fatigue from traveling from Abuja, leading to the crash. “The bus caught fire, and we were able to notify the victims’ families through the vehicle manifest,” he added.

Mathew urged drivers to take breaks and rest if they feel fatigued while driving to avoid such tragedies.
