Edwin Clark – Atiku, Wike Destroying PDP With Their Actions

Clark, in a statement issued in Abuja, urged PDP leaders to take urgent measures to salvage the party from imminent collapse. He proposed the dissolution of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) as a crucial step to prevent Atiku and Wike from further damaging the party.
According to Clark, the dissolution of the NWC and the appointment of an Acting National Chairman in line with the party’s constitution are necessary actions to counter the destructive influence of Atiku and Wike. He recalled a similar move during Uche Secondus’s tenure when the party appointed an Acting National Chairman while Secondus was embroiled in legal matters.
Furthermore, Clark stressed the importance of revisiting the online registration of party members initiated by Dr. Okwesilieze Nwodo to reduce dependency on individual sponsors.
Expressing concern over the hijacking of the party by self-serving members, Clark urged the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) to establish a disciplinary committee to investigate anti-party activities that contributed to the PDP’s failure in the 2023 elections.
Clark didn’t mince words in criticizing Atiku and Wike, accusing them of prioritizing personal ambitions over the party’s interests. He warned that if allowed to continue unchecked, their actions could lead to the collapse of the PDP, undermining its position as a major political force in Nigeria.
The elder statesman particularly condemned Wike’s actions, describing him as politically opportunistic and manipulative. He called for decisive action against Wike’s anti-party activities and emphasized the need for a thorough investigation by a strong disciplinary committee.
In conclusion, Clark underscored the necessity of upholding fairness and party ideals, urging PDP leaders to intervene decisively to prevent further damage and restore the party’s integrity.
