Kingsley, accused of orchestrating a fraudulent marriage scheme that defrauded American woman Nicole Kierulff Sayers of $370,000, was apprehended and brought before the law.
Following his arrest in Abuja, Kingsley faced charges of internet fraud, stealing, obtaining by false pretense, and criminal possession of fake documents before the Federal Capital Territory High Court in Maitama. The EFCC’s relentless pursuit of justice paid off as the agency’s efforts yielded substantial results.
The recovered assets include a plot of land in Port Harcourt, Rivers state, as well as a Lexus Ex 350 and Toyota Venza cars. Testimony from Okanne Kelechi, the Second Prosecution Witness, shed light on Kingsley’s elaborate scheme, involving fraudulent profiles on Linkedin and fabricated contract award letters.
The forensic investigation, backed by evidence from international money transfer operators and thorough scrutiny of financial transactions, uncovered the depth of Kingsley’s deception. Despite attempts at plea bargaining, the EFCC remained steadfast in its mission to hold the perpetrator accountable.
With justice in sight, the court adjourns the proceedings, marking another step towards closure for the victims and a testament to the EFCC’s unwavering commitment to combatting financial crimes.
