Èmi Lókàn: What To Expect As Tinubu The King Maker Is Set To Ascend The Throne

Nigerians are full of humour no matter what condition or exigency they find themselves in; in times of joy, they radiate humour; in times of sorrow, you will find elements of humour in their activities; and even in times of national crisis, Nigerians will make jokes about it; no wonder we were once the happiest nation on earth despite clear evidence of lack.

At a serious time when Nigerians should be asking themselves who should we vote for as the next president, who is capable of redeeming us as a nation, they are busy making jokes upadan and turning the election campaign into a bundle of fun.

Recall some few days before the APC presidential primaries the Jagaban flared up in Abeokuta over alleged plans to undermine his generosity, Tinubu spoke passionately and he was heard loud and clear. That famous speech is what is now known as Èmi Lókàn ,meaning it is my turn.

I’ve seen so many skits supporting and opposing Jagaban’s remarks that I can’t stop laughing whenever I see them. The Abeokuta Declaration, which ultimately changed the game, is now a reference narrative that has gotten everyone talking. I just watched a video where ex-Super Perm Sec and former Secretary to the Federation,Babagana Kingibe said to Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, “Eyin lo kan (It’s your turn),” when Tinubu visited the MKO Abiola’s running mate in the June 12 1993 elections.

Èmi Lókàn , IT IS MY TURN, funny enough some Nigerians have asked times without numbers why does Tinubu not remain as a Kingmaker than going after the throne himself? They say he is better as a Kingmaker than being a king.

Do you know that the best kings were first and foremost king-makers – and will always be king-makers – because they are the ones who improve the country they lead?

A Kingmaker creates kings through the virtues of honesty, delegation of duties, effective communication, self-awareness, gratitude, respect, influence, courage, and generosity. If a King Maker lacks any of these qualities, we should be concerned. Now in this country which we find ourselves how many Kings made are loyal to the road map of the Kingmaker?

Over the years, the Kingmaker has been entrusted with immense duty to select Kings. What now disqualifies the King Maker, whom the people have placed so much trust in, from being a better King than the Kings he creates?

This is basic logic, if the Kingmaker has so much wisdom in selecting Kings, why don’t the people benefit directly from the KINGmaker’s wisdom by electing him to the throne?

Isn’t it the best we seek for as a nation ?

“Eyin lo kan”Asiwaju Bola Tinubu It is now your turn, and this is what we anticipate from you as the future President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria: please make every region as developed as Lagos, and create the informal status Lagos state represents in Nigeria in terms of entertainment, information technology, and so on.

At least six cities from each of the six geographical regions should compete economically in continental trade, much as Lagos State is Africa’s fifth largest economy. Other Nigerian cities should be able to rise to an enviable position in the Africa Index.

You initiated the first independent power plant in Nigeria (ERON) to increase power supply and accelerate industrialization and job creation in Lagos State; please emulate the same zeal in our power sector.

You revolutionized security in Lagos by introducing the Rapid Respond Squad please our security is in dire need of a sustainable intervention, if you achieved success in the security of Lagos we expect you to do some magic with the state of our poor security across the federation.

It is on record that your administration in Lagos was the first to promote the digital economy by digitizing tax administration in order to boost revenue collections for development; we expect you to perform better in terms of revenue creation for our dwindling economy.

When you were the governor of Lagos State, your cabinet included Nigerians from all regions; we currently need this kind of detribalization in our national polity so that an Igbo man can have the same rights as a Yoruba or Hausa/Fulani guy.

As Lagos State Governor, you established LCDAs to help grassroots development; but, our governors have pocketed the Local Government system, and as a result, the masses are living in abject poverty.

Remember, as Lagos State Governor, you endured years of confisticated federal allocation by the PDP Government led by Obasanjo, yet you never owed wages, and Lagos maintained its economic status and even prospered better.

We expect you, as a Muslim married to a Christian pastor, to look into how we may improve religious harmony among all religions. Much is expected of those who are given much.

Èmi Lókàn MY TIME HAS COME, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. We agree it is your turn, and we stand by your mandate, but these are some of the things we demand of you when you ultimately inherit the throne.
