The Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, assured the public that the government is dedicated to upholding integrity and accountability within the Nigerian Armed Forces.

Ogalla faces accusations of providing protection to oil thieves through the Nigerian Navy, hindering inquiries into vessels suspected of trafficking stolen crude oil, and violating the Procurement Act 2007 by splitting navy arms procurement into 30 contracts awarded to a single firm in November 2023.

The Chief of Naval Staff is also alleged to have refused to approve the transfer of naval officers implicated in various unprofessional conducts.

The press statement emphasized the seriousness of the allegations and pledged full collaboration with relevant authorities to conduct a comprehensive investigation into the matter.

The government underscores the importance of maintaining the trust and confidence of the Nigerian people in institutions safeguarding the nation’s security.
