Federal Government, Niger State Partner to Engage 100,000 Youths in Agriculture

The agreement was signed by Minister of Youth Development, Comrade Ayodele Olawande, on behalf of the Federal Government, while Niger State Governor, Mohammed Bago, alongside the Chairman of Niger Foods, Sammy Adigun, and the CEO/Executive Secretary of NALDA, Cornelius Oluwasegun Adebayo, represented their respective state and organizations.
At the signing ceremony held at the Niger State Government House in Minna, Minister Olawande praised Governor Bago for his commitment to ensuring food security, job creation, and youth empowerment in Nigeria.
According to a statement issued by the Federal Ministry of Youth Development’s Director of Information and Public Relations, Omolara Esan, the minister highlighted that the tripartite agreement would strengthen collaboration between the ministry, Niger State Government, and NALDA.
Olawande also noted that the initiative aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which focuses on improving food security and providing employment opportunities for young Nigerians.
Speaking on the initiative, Niger Foods Chairman, Sammy Adigun, revealed that the partnership aims to produce 500,000 tons of food annually, with participating youths set to earn an initial N150,000 in their first year, with potential earnings growing significantly over four to five years.
NALDA CEO, Cornelius Adebayo, described Niger State as a model for agricultural development, making it an ideal location to launch the program.
Governor Bago welcomed the partnership, calling it a significant milestone for youth development. He expressed confidence that the program would achieve its goals, emphasizing the potential of Nigerian youth to succeed with adequate support.
