FG Launches NDDC Scholarship Portal, Announces Application Deadline – [Full Details]

The Federal Government, through the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), has officially opened applications for its foreign master’s postgraduate scholarship programme for the 2026/2027 academic session. According to official NDDC communications, the application portal opened on March 23, 2026, and will close on April 19, 2026.

The scholarship initiative is aimed at equipping young Nigerians from the Niger Delta region with advanced education and professional skills to enhance local content participation and strengthen their competitiveness in the global job market.

Applicants are required to hold a first-class or second-class upper division degree from a recognised institution and must not be older than 40 years. Applications must be submitted online via the NDDC’s official website, accompanied by a recent passport photograph, a Local Government Identification letter, postgraduate admission confirmation from a recognised overseas university, academic certificates, and either a National Youth Service Corps discharge or exemption certificate. Each successful submission generates a registration number, and applicants are advised to print their acknowledgement slips for reference.

The selection process will begin with preliminary shortlisting based on candidates’ WASSCE or NECO results, undergraduate degree classification, and Local Government identification. Shortlisted candidates will then take a computer-based test in Rivers State, requiring a minimum score of 70 percent to advance. Successful candidates will undergo further screening and final verification through their respective Local Government Areas and Community Development Committees.

The NDDC confirmed that the scholarship is fully funded and awarded based on the prevailing naira exchange rate. Priority will be given to candidates from oil-producing states in the Niger Delta, including Abia, Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, Cross River, Delta, Edo, Imo, Ondo, and Rivers. The commission emphasised that changes in course or institution, as well as deferment of the award, are not permitted, and only shortlisted candidates will be contacted. The NDDC retains full discretion over final selections.
