The recognition highlights her work as First Lady, a former senator, and the wife of a former governor. According to a statement from her Senior Special Assistant on Media, Busola Kukoyi, the award acknowledges her dedication to improving the lives of Nigerian women, youth, and children.

While unable to attend the event, Senator Tinubu was represented by Hajia Fatima Tajudeen Abbas, wife of the Speaker of the House of Representatives. Expressing gratitude, the First Lady dedicated the award to Nigerian women, youth, and children, emphasizing that it would inspire her to continue her work.

“She asked me to thank the Board of Directors of Independent Newspapers Limited for this great honor, which will further motivate her to do more,” Hajia Abbas shared on her behalf.

Other notable recipients at the event included Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, who was named Man of the Year, and former APC National Chairman, Chief Bisi Akande, who received the Lifetime Achievement Award. The awards were presented by the chairman of the occasion, Chief Olabode George.
