The All Progressives Congress (APC) has strongly criticised Nasir El-Rufai, the immediate past governor of Kaduna State, accusing him of embodying the very future he once predicted for others. In a brief statement released on its official account, the APC likened El-Rufai’s recent actions to the hypocrisy of someone who points a finger at others while ignoring their own faults.

The party stated that El-Rufai is now living out a scenario he himself foretold, describing him as “a stellar example of pointing one finger at others with four pointing back.” It further warned against taking seriously those who make loud declarations that mask an underlying emptiness, urging the public to see beyond the noise.

El-Rufai, a founding member of the APC, shocked political observers earlier this year by defecting to the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in March 2025.

In a related development, former Jigawa State Governor Sule Lamido has publicly endorsed ex-President Goodluck Jonathan as the People’s Democratic Party’s (PDP) strongest candidate for the 2027 presidential election. Speaking on Channels Television, Lamido urged the PDP to make deliberate efforts to bring Jonathan back into the fold, highlighting his experience, leadership, and ability to foster partnerships as unmatched within the party.

Lamido argued that no current PDP southern member could match Jonathan’s credentials, pointing to his previous tenure and comprehensive understanding of governance as reasons Nigerians would support his candidacy. The comments come amid ongoing speculation about Jonathan’s potential return to frontline politics in 2027.
