Game-Changer: Badaki Unveils Tourism Transformation Movement As New FTAN Boss

Dr. Aliyu Badaki, the newly elected President of the Federation of Tourism Associations of Nigeria (FTAN), has vowed to rejuvenate the nation’s tourism industry through a bold initiative dubbed the Tourism Transformation Movement (TTM), according to iReporter Online.

Delivering his acceptance speech after emerging victorious as the 8th National President of FTAN, Badaki described his win over Professor Wasiu Babalola during the federation’s 2025 Annual General Meeting and Election in Abuja as the dawn of a new era for both the association and the Nigerian tourism sector.

He emphasized that the TTM is not merely a campaign slogan, but a well-structured roadmap designed to revamp the tourism industry and reinforce the private sector’s impact on national development.

According to iReporter Online, the TTM agenda will prioritize institutional strengthening, expanded visibility for FTAN across and beyond Nigeria, continuous capacity building through training and certification, enhanced public-private collaboration, elimination of industry barriers, policy advocacy, and inclusive leadership that actively involves youth and women.

Badaki, who also serves as Managing Director/CEO of Blissy Hospitality and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Hospitality and Tourism Management Association of Nigeria (HATMAN), called for unity among stakeholders.

“Politicking is over. The time for work has arrived,” he stated, urging members to rally around the shared vision of positioning tourism as a key driver of national progress.

In his address, he also acknowledged the contributions of past FTAN leaders, promising to build on their legacy and ensure tangible, measurable outcomes.

According to iReporter Online, the newly inaugurated Executive Council, which will steer the federation’s affairs from 2025 to 2027, includes Mrs. Susan Akporiaye as First Deputy President, Mrs. Justina Ovat as Second Deputy President, Mrs. Bolaji Mustapha as Treasurer, and several other regional and functional leaders across the country.

The detailed blueprint of the Tourism Transformation Movement is expected to be formally unveiled by the Federation in the coming days.
