Gbenga Daniel Rallies Ogun Residents Behind Tinubu’s 2027 Re-Election

Former Ogun State governor and senator representing Ogun East, Gbenga Daniel, has launched the BATOGD Movement, an initiative aimed at galvanising support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s second-term bid.

Speaking on Sunday during the inauguration of the multimillion-naira Renewed Hope International Market in Igode, Sagamu Local Government Area of Ogun State, Daniel described President Tinubu as the provider of Nigeria’s “first ever conscious leadership.” He declared that Tinubu’s re-election in 2027 is “sacrosanct” to the nation’s continued progress.

The senator commended the administration for taking what he called “bold and courageous steps” where previous governments had faltered, particularly highlighting the removal of fuel subsidy and reforms in the foreign exchange market. According to him, these policies may be painful in the short term but have laid a firm foundation for long-term economic stability.

“This is not to say everything has become rosy, but if we take the issue of fuel subsidy removal as an example, we can appreciate that it has, to a large extent, addressed the problem of scarcity,” he said.

Daniel urged governors across the 36 states to ensure judicious use of the “excess funds” now available to them as a result of the subsidy removal. He stressed that allocations have increased more than fourfold, adding that state leaders must give a proper account of the resources at their disposal.
