Governor Yusuf Declares 85% of Campaign Promises Fulfilled as Administration Crosses Midterm
Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has announced that his administration has successfully delivered 85% of its campaign promises to the people of the state. Speaking at a swearing-in ceremony for newly appointed government officials on Thursday, the governor emphasized that only 15% of his commitments remain outstanding, with two full years left in his term.
According to iReporter Online, the governor made this declaration while formally appointing his new Chief of Staff, Dr. Sulaiman Wali Sani, along with Major General Sani Muhammad (rtd), who now leads the Directorate of Special Services, and 11 Special Advisers. The event, held before members of the State Executive Council, was also used to highlight the administration’s self-assessed performance based on recent internal reviews.
Governor Yusuf revealed that the progress report presented to the council validated the administration’s effectiveness so far. He noted that the government had surpassed expectations in several sectors and that plans were underway to launch a new wave of programmes aimed at further improving the standard of living for the people of Kano.
According to iReporter Online, the governor charged the appointees to uphold transparency and prioritize accountability. He stressed the importance of honest reporting and responsible use of public funds, urging them to focus entirely on the needs of the citizens rather than personal interests.
Governor Yusuf’s remarks come amid growing public scrutiny of political office holders and their delivery of electoral pledges. According to iReporter Online, the Kano State leader’s confidence in his administration’s performance signals his readiness to accelerate development efforts as he enters the latter half of his four-year mandate.
