Governor Zulum Makes Bold Moves: Cabinet Purge and Key Education Appointment Announced
In a decisive move signaling a cabinet shake-up, Borno State Governor, Babagana Umara Zulum, has dismissed two members of his executive council. The announcement, which was made public on Thursday, confirmed the immediate termination of the appointments of Engr. Emat Kois, Commissioner for Environment, and Hon. Tukur Ibrahim, Commissioner for Intergovernmental and Special Duties.
According to iReporter Online, the governor extended his appreciation to the outgoing officials for their service to the state, wishing them well in their future pursuits. The shake-up comes as part of broader administrative realignments aimed at enhancing efficiency within the state government.
New appointments were swiftly announced to fill the vacant positions. Engr. Mohammed Habib and Ibrahim Hala Hassan were named as replacements for the dismissed commissioners. Their nominations have been submitted to the Borno State House of Assembly for legislative screening and confirmation.
In a separate development, Governor Zulum approved the appointment of Professor Yusuf Gana Balami as the new Executive Chairman of the Borno State Secondary Education Board. Balami, a seasoned academic in Educational Psychology, hails from Hawul in southern Borno and brings with him decades of experience in education and public service.
Beginning his career in 1984 with the Borno State Ministry of Education before transitioning to the University of Maiduguri, Professor Balami has distinguished himself in academia, reaching the rank of professor in 2014. He is also a respected member of several professional associations and has contributed extensively to educational research and publications.
The governor tasked the newly appointed education board chairman with revamping the secondary education sector using his academic background and leadership experience. All new appointments, according to the statement, have been formally transmitted to the Borno State House of Assembly for confirmation.
