Here Is The Reason Lawyer Calls For Ganduje’s Resignation
A Kano-based lawyer, Wangida Isa, has urged Abdullahi Ganduje, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), to step down from his position amidst allegations of corruption. The call comes in light of an upcoming court arraignment related to bribery charges against Ganduje……READ ALSO Tension Mounts Kano As Ganduje Faces Arraignment On April 17
Ganduje, the former Governor of Kano State, has been embroiled in controversy since a video surfaced in 2017 allegedly showing him receiving bundles of dollar notes as a bribe from a contractor. Despite denying the accusations initially, Governor Abba Yusuf reignited the case, leading to an impending court appearance for Ganduje on April 17, 2024.
In an interview on Channels Television’s Morning Brief, lawyer Wangida Isa emphasized the seriousness of the allegations, including bribery, diversion, and misappropriation of funds. Isa stressed that Ganduje should temporarily vacate his position until he clears his name in the corruption case.
The lawyer pointed out that Ganduje has not been exonerated, as the court deemed the charges against him to be federal offenses and ordered trial at a federal court. Isa underscored the legal authority of ward executives to remove party members, dismissing assertions that Ganduje’s suspension was orchestrated by the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP).
The demand for Ganduje’s resignation underscores the significance of addressing corruption allegations within the APC leadership, highlighting the need for accountability and ethical governance.
