Hope For Ijagemo As Sanwo-Olu Begins 540-Metre Road Construction With Solar Streetlights
According to Ireporter Online, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has officially launched the 540-metre Alhaji Jimoh Drive/Baptist Church Street project in Ijagemo, Ijegun, within the Iba Local Council Development Area (LCDA).
The initiative, executed through the Office of Rural Development, is part of the administration’s ongoing efforts to boost infrastructure, enhance connectivity, and improve the overall quality of life in rural communities.
Special Adviser to the Governor on Rural Development, Dr. Nurudeen Agbaje, disclosed that the road project is expected to be completed within six months. He explained that the new infrastructure would feature solar-powered streetlights to enhance visibility, road safety, and nighttime accessibility for residents.
Dr. Agbaje appealed to members of the Ijagemo community to collaborate with the contractors to ensure the smooth and timely completion of the project. He emphasized that the initiative aligns with Governor Sanwo-Olu’s T.H.E.M.E.S Plus Agenda, which seeks to transform rural settlements into semi-urban environments.
The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs and Rural Development, Mrs. Kikelomo Bolarinwa, described the project as clear evidence of the governor’s sincerity and competence in fulfilling his promises to grassroots communities.
In his remarks, Dr. Yusuf Jimoh, a retired Permanent Secretary from the Lagos State Audit Service Commission and Ministry of Special Duties, commended the governor’s dedication to infrastructure development, noting that the Ijagemo community had long anticipated such a landmark project.
Similarly, the All Progressives Congress (APC) Chairman in Iba LCDA, Alhaji Oyetolu Jamiu, applauded the state government and the Office of Rural Development for their strategic commitment to grassroots advancement.
Chairman of the Community Development Committee, Dr. Thomas Agbogunleri, also expressed appreciation to Dr. Agbaje for his leadership and consistency in driving the governor’s developmental agenda across rural communities.
