Former Minister of Information, Labaran Maku, reportedly fell victim to pickpockets inside the Court of Appeal complex in Abuja on Wednesday, losing his cell phone.

Maku, among the Nasarawa State politicians present to support Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate David Ombugadu, attempted to recover the phone without success, despite the efforts of his aides.

Meanwhile, the appeal court reserved judgment in Governor Abdullahi Sule’s appeal against the tribunal’s decision that declared David Ombugadu the winner of the state governorship election.

The tribunal, led by Justice Ezekiel Ajayi, had ruled in favor of Ombugadu, stating that he had the majority of valid votes based on evidence from various polling units. Governor Sule appealed the judgment, arguing that the tribunal misapplied the law and relied on the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System machine without proper demonstration.

The PDP candidate’s lawyer, Kanu Agabi, SAN, countered, asserting that the tribunal correctly analyzed the BVAS contrary to the governor’s claims.
