Bose Ogulu, the mother of Grammy-winning Afrobeats singer Burna Boy, has opened up about her son’s personality, saying people must understand and make allowances for his outspoken nature, particularly when he expresses himself on social media.

Speaking during an interview on Channels Television hosted by media personality Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, Ogulu highlighted the difference between her own social media presence and that of her son, noting that Burna Boy’s personality is an important part of what makes him unique.

According to Ogulu, the singer should be allowed to express himself because the same emotions and characteristics that sometimes generate controversy are also connected to the qualities fans admire about him.

“You can always notice the difference between when I tweet and when Burna tweets. What I’ve come to learn is that artists like him, they’re like tapestry. If you pull at one thread too hard, everything will unravel,” she said.

She explained that trying to suppress or drastically alter one aspect of Burna Boy’s personality could affect other qualities that contribute to his creativity and individuality.

Ogulu further revealed that, despite understanding her son’s personality, she sometimes has to intervene when his activities on social media become excessive.

“So you must make allowances for this person being himself, because it’s the same emotion that what you love about him comes from. Within, we do what we can. I usually grab his phone from him anytime he goes wild on Instagram Live,” she added.

Her comments provide an insight into the relationship between the singer and his mother, who has remained closely involved in his career and public life.

Burna Boy has regularly attracted attention for his outspoken statements and activities online, particularly during Instagram Live sessions, where he often interacts directly with fans and speaks openly on issues.
